‘Britain’s saviour’, 2019, oil on canvas, 500 mm x 500 mm

Painted in my deconstructed gradient block tonal style, this, along with paint blurring/soft focus are my regular ways of depicting recall and memory. In a physical sense this manner of depicting lends itself well to the handmade nature of the Spitfires assembled parts. The solid tonals highlighting ripples in the constructed body, with tactile undulations in the smooth icon shape.
